TorchLight is seeking a Public Relations Manager to join a large corporate organization in the field of higher education. Qualified candidates will have 5+ years experience in strategic integrated communications with very strong writing/editing skills and preferably some years of experience working in an agency setting.

Location:
Qualified applicants will be ideally located the Washington, DC metro area. Fully remote candidates also encouraged to apply. U.S. citizenship or a permanent residency card in the U.S. is required to be an eligible candidate for this opportunity.

Employment:
Direct hire, full-time job, 40 hours/week. Organization is currently operating fully remote with return to office date unknown.

Role responsibilities:

- Execute strategic external communications programs and corporate reputation-building campaigns
- Manage new strategic partnerships, thought leadership programs, and events that will further organizations reputation among key audiences
- Support management of crisis and issue-based communications efforts as needed
- Oversee content development, including getting internal approvals, and implement media support materials
- Schedule and publish PR announcements and monitor incoming media relations inquiries
- Work with internal leaders and other subject matter experts to prep for assigned media interviews
- Support the development of story and pitch strategies, corporate messaging, interview briefs, social media, and thought leadership
- Serve as PR and media contact for assigned events

Skills and experience:

- Five (5) plus years of experience in public relations, corporate/executive communications, or public affairs; experience working in an agency setting preferred
- Ability to effectively influence peers and senior leaders across departments
- Strong written and oral communication and project management skills
- Strong understanding of social media space as it relates to public relations
- Ability to manage multiple projects for internal clients while maintaining attention to detail on all work
